Carter Burden Network's OAC Center brought its own brand of star power to Red Oak Older Adult Center this month, as three groups represented Covello in the regional round of Talent Is Timeless, NYC Aging's citywide talent competition celebrating the creativity, resilience, and limitless potential of older adults.
Now in its fourth year, Talent Is Timeless invites New Yorkers aged 60 and older to take the stage and show off their skills, all while challenging outdated stereotypes about aging. The competition moves through several rounds, starting locally at older adult centers, advancing to regional and borough-wide rounds, and culminating in a citywide grand finale.
Covello OAC members didn't just show up this year they showed out, sending three distinct acts to compete at the regional level:
The Glowing Stars, Covello's spirited dance group, brought energy and fabulous choreography
Elsa Cruz, a solo singer, took the stage with a powerful vocal performance that showcased her individual talent.
The Mandarin Choir, known for their harmonious performances, filled the room with beautiful, coordinated song.
Talent Is Timeless is more than a competition; it's a celebration of the artistry and vibrancy that older adults bring to our communities every day. Whether dancing, singing, or performing in harmony, Covello's performers proved that creativity truly has no age limit.
