Carter Burden Gallery is partnering with the New York Academy of Medicine (NYAM) this fall on The Art of Aging Well, a three-part exhibition and program series exploring the intersection of art, narrative health, and healthy aging.
The series kicks off with a Gallery Opening on September 16th at NYAM (1216 5th Avenue), where guests can meet the artists and enjoy a special performance by Young@Heart NYC. The exhibition features work from five Carter Burden Gallery artists and printmakers: Karin Bruckner, Yvonne Lamar-Rogers, Barbara Lubliner, Wendy Moss, and Stewart Siskind.
On September 22nd, the series continues with Visual Narratives: A Graphic Medicine Workshop, a hands-on session led by cartoonist and educator Kriota Willberg exploring how comics and visual storytelling can capture health and life experience. Space is limited for this one, so early RSVP is recommended.
The series closes on October 1st with a panel discussion, Art, Brain Health & Creative Aging, bringing together neurologist Dr. Arjun Masurkar (NYU Langone), artists Karin Bruckner and Stewart Siskind, and creative aging experts Joan Jeffri and Julie Kline (Lifetime Arts). The panel will be moderated by Dozene Guishard, Ed.D., Carter Burden Network's Director of Health and Wellness Initiatives, and will explore the research and lived experience behind art's power to support healthy aging.
All three events run from 5:30–7:30 p.m. This series is a wonderful showcase of the creativity and talent within our Carter Burden Gallery community — and a chance to see, firsthand, how art and aging intersect in powerful ways.
