Governor Cuomo- New York's Age-Friendly Policies Initiative

In May 2019, The National Network of Public Health Institutes granted Governor Andrew M. Cuomo ‘s New York’s Health Across All Ages Policies/ Age-Friendly NY Initiative its 2019 Public Health Innovation Award. According to the governor's website, “The award is bestowed on an organization that has taken a risk or developed an out-of-the-box solution resulting in new approaches, scalable ideas and ways of working together.”

The Governor has been making great strides to make New York accessible to people of all ages. AARP and the World Health Organization named New York the first age-friendly state because of Govenor Cuomo’s commitment to putting AARP's Livable Communities Principles into action. We are looking forward to this new initiative that will hopefully be very beneficial for our seniors.
